Configure Audacity

On this page you find information about how to configure Audacity.

Before you get going with Audacity, it is useful to change some settings, or at least take notice of it. The following shows you how the most important settings can be configured. Start Audacity and go to the menu File, Preferences… See picture below.

The dialog window lets you configure Audacity and in the following panels changes will be made:

Audio I/O
Quality
File Formats
Directories
Interface After changing the preferences you need to close Audacity and start it again. Preferences are now effective. You can start with your (first) recording.
